A continuation from last weeks strip

For a few of my old fans from Harrisburg last weeks strip may have been recognized as the beginning of a short mini series. In whole it has 5 parts, of which I had been hoping to complete this week, however fell 1 short, so you don't get the resolution till next week. In the mean time enjoy these 3 of Trevor being Trevor.

"I'm not thinking Anything sexual"
This was inspired on an actual dialog I bared witness to once at a small convenience store.

"Anime Porn"
This comic concept was originally created by Trevor and I in the golden age of the Random Thought Book. The big give away is that it has Kenzie in it, who did not appear in many later comics. At any rate this was not based as much on an actually event as a "proposed event" that was never actually completed.

"How often does he do this?"
I think its time we saw another side of this conflict.

Mid Term Update

So far the we are sitting at the completion of 6 inked, colored and worded comics.
"Lock the Door and Get the Rifle!"
"Prepare the Yomatto Cannon!"
"Barbeque Sauce on Those Walls"
"The Duel of the Roses"
"Cutie Nicknames"
"Beta Guy"

This is good if only slightly behind of the timelines projection of having 8 at this point. However I have plans forming to rectify this by next weeks update on Monday. Monday Oct 31 was predicted to have 10 completed comics at that point, which I will meet by producing at least 4 strips this week. Below are two of these, and the other two are story board form.

These 4 new strips will accompany as well as complete the mini series I began with my single comic last week.

Beyond these 4 four strips for next week I have further plans for the weeks to follow. My original plan had called for the completion of 20 total strips, which would leave me with 10 more after next week. However this plan did not factor in thing like finals week and dead week, making that number seem a little more ambitious, leaving 5 or 6 as a much more reasonable number. I will set that then as my minimum for the rest of the term, however I will strive to create more if at all possible.

Reading Response 2

It would seem to me that the more recent work of interactive art tend to stray away from the classic interactive which Huhtamo speaks of. Where the works before were about a user acting upon an artists creation in order to explore and understand it, many of these more recent pieces are the artists creation acting upon the unknowing public. The artists creations are devices of technology programed to act upon the viewer in a way predetermined by the artists, keeping view interaction strictly passive.
In the work "Newtweek" for example, the artist creates his device too impose his altered news articles via a hack through the wireless internet. The viewer most likely doesn't even realize the web page they are viewing is altered at all. Or in the case of of Bismark's "Fulgurator" photographers whos cameras are effected would notice and in doing so may in fact be interacting with the work, however it is an interaction which does not change or effect the work.
Slightly different in presentation would be works such as the "Nemo Observatorium" or the "Listening Post". In the case of these works the viewer is clearly aware that they are experiencing the work of an artist, however their interaction is still strictly passive, and does not alter the presentation of the piece. This passive interaction is the overal theme seen throughout the majority of the winning works in question.

More Comics on the Way

Below is the first part of a short mini series I have begun. Last week I showed the uncolored un-dialoged inked version of this. It is a remake of an old concept I had back in high school after I friend of mine tried something similar to this when he was refused service at game crazy. I haven't thought of a title for it yet but it will probably involve the words "Part 1" in it.

I had some other uncolored inking to put up but they got stranded the mac I usually use on campus. I will get them up on here as soon as possible which should be some time this afternoon.

Update!

"Prepare the Yomatto Canon!"
This is one which is inspired by my favorite, if not ineffective tactic in Starcraft the classic "battlecruiser rush". I decided it would be funnier as well to not have Brent and I merely playing SC2 but quite literally piloting the cruiser itself. My only regret is the resolution was smaller then expected, thus giving the line a certain "thickness" which some, but not myself, will hopefully find appealing.

"Barbeque Sauce on Those Walls"
Below is the finished version of the line drawn strip I showed last week. And reading makes me hungry. Although for the most part I would say it is an overall success I may be forced to do some touch up color work later on. The bland background of the grey room walls is bugging me and I may need to add a little more spic the backgrounds of panels 1,3 and 4. But for now it will do as is.

Below is an uncolored comic which I may finish tomorrow afternoon, if I manage the time.

Next weeks I plan I have serveral sketches ready to be inked and colored. I have several that will continue the story presented in the last comic shown here, as well as 2 with separate stories. I am also in the process of working out a mini series or 2-3 parts that will involve the chaps conspiring to steal some of Kyle lost property. Expect and Oceans parody.

Back from the Summer!

SPECIAL PROJECTS WEEKLY UPDATE!

This week I have several new comics. They as follows

"The Duel of the Roses"
This one was inspired by an actual conversation between Kyle and myself while apartment hunting. All in all I consider this one a shining success combining a funny idea with well balanced visuals. Enjoy.

"Cutie Nicknames"
Kyle has a new girlfriend. I decided to make a commentary on the relationship.

"Beta Guy"
This is one I originally made a few years back and forgot about. Last spring I started to revamp it. However I got half way done and forgot about it again. Since then it was been sitting on my desktop collecting digidust. I found it yesterday and decided to finish it as well as give the dialog a reboot to keep it current.

Below is another currently unfinished work I have been working this week as well and intend to finish by next week. I will let the second panel fill you with anticipation for what is too come.

Beyond finishing the previous comic I also have some plans for next week and after. I have one or two rough sketches for new ideas and also have a few old unpublished works I am planning to make over including "RTB Goes to Hell" and a small series involving the infamous words "Nate! For the love of God lock the door and get the rifle".
